He said the initiative was a follow-up of the state government's success in securing first place at last year's Malaysian Government Portals and Websites Assessment.
The assessment, by the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), was undertaken based on the global best practices criteria applied by Brown University and Waseda University, he said after opening the state government's e-government exhibition, here.
For the record, 328 websites of government agencies were evaluated by MDeC.
Earlier, in his speech, Lim proposed that an e-assessment website be set up to evaluate the performance of government departments and agencies.
"An e-assessment portal will enable us to know which department or agency was truly providing satisfactory service.
"The state government will determine the suitable incentive to be given to the department or agency with potential," he said.
Lim said the exhibition, carrying the theme "Swift Service at Your Finger Tips", was intended to get government departments and agencies to ensure easier, faster and smoother delivery of service to clients.
