Transforming Government since 2001
Denver won a national award for the second consecutive year for offering the most comprehensive city government features and services on its official Web site.

Researchers at Brown University ranked Denver as the leading city for e-government services in the country, based on the offerings at www.denvergov.org. The research team from the Taubman Center for Public Policy gave Denver's site its highest overall ranking according to various features dealing with information availability, citizen access and service delivery.

San Diego and New York City followed Denver in second and third places, respectively.

The researchers analyzed 1,873 city government Web sites maintained by the 70 largest metropolitan areas in the nation during the period from June through August of this year.

They lauded Denver's Web site for being clearly laid out and easy to navigate, having privacy and security statements in plain view and offering a wealth of online, time-saving services for citizens.

Byron West, director of Customer Information Services for Denver, which runs the Web operations, said the site contains more than 48,000 pages and files of information and is used by an average of 16,000 people a day.

He also noted that the site's automated language translation feature had to be discontinued this year because of inaccuracies in translations, but that the city is looking into better translation options.
