Rubicon’s smart city technology is designed to streamline and optimize city operations

Rubicon, a developer of smart waste and recycling solutions for smart cities, has reached a new milestone. The company’s smart city technology has now been deployed in more than 100 cities.

The milestone was achieved in six years and includes the cities of Houston, Miami, Atlanta and Denver, all of which were added at the beginning of this year.

Rubicon’s smart city technology is designed to streamline and optimize operations within a city, including its waste and recycling system, as well as the safety of its road – monitoring vehicle health and working to improve driver behavior. By optimizing these elements of city life, the company also says it helps improve sustainability and energy efficiency within a city.

Cities that have deployed Rubicon’s smart city technology have heralded the importance of digitizing day-to-day operations, as well as the role these technologies have in helping pursue sustainability targets.

"The city of Houston is committed to providing the highest level of service to its residents. Working with Rubicon allows us to provide better services, save taxpayer dollars, and deliver a better quality of life for Houstonians,” said Sylvester Turner, Houston’s mayor.

Turner added that Rubicon’s technology was helping to optimize and digitize the city’s waste operations.

"Rubicon’s technology is helping drive meaningful progress within Scranton’s public works operations," said Paige Cognetti, mayor of Scranton, Pennsylvania. "Digitizing our operations was a long time coming, and we look forward to continuing to work with Rubicon to utilize the data and insights that these processes reveal, generating opportunities for greater efficiencies in our overall daily workflow and improved service delivery for our residents."
