Transforming Government since 2001

Sure, most visit the parks conveniently located nearby to take a step out of their daily grind, unplug and enjoy nature. But before visitors turn their phone off for the day, they may just want to use it for an easier entrance. Instead of waiting in a long line of cars to pay for a pass, visitors can now purchase passes online and show their ticket at the booth.

The new convenience is a result of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks partnership with digital government services provider NIC Inc. (NASDAQ: EGOV). NIC Inc has provided the capability to offer digital park passes to visitors through “YourPassNow.”

Over 1.8 million visitors from across the U.S. and the world visit these parks for the world’s largest trees (by volume), grand mountains, rugged foothills, deep canyons, vast caverns, the highest point in the lower 48 states, and more. Sequoia and Kings Canyon join several other National Parks to launch YourPassNow, a digital solution that provides an alternative to the traditional paper-based purchase method.

Visitors can now use their personal computer or mobile device to purchase an entrance pass online, at no additional cost. Once purchased, the pass can be used immediately, stored on a mobile device or printed for later use. Brigid Jennings, Acting Revenue and Fee Program Manager said, “We are super excited to be announcing this new pilot program during National Park Week. This will be another tool to help visitors in their planning before arriving at the parks.”

“NIC is pleased to add Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks to our digital park pass offering,” said Sandi Miller NIC Federal, General Manger. These parks join a growing number of national parks and forest lands delivering digital access to visitors.
