Transforming Government since 2001
Real-Time Online Customer Service Among the New Features Available at www.alabama.gov

Alabama's official Web site, www.alabama.gov, keeps getting better. Last week, the state's Web portal introduced a fresh, new look designed to make accessing government information faster and easier for citizens. The alabama.gov portal now features many improved features while providing a streamlined and consistent look and feel throughout the Web site. The new site also boasts improved search capabilities, enhanced customer service, and simplified access to Alabama's electronic government services 24 hours a day and seven days a week. One significant constituent-friendly addition to alabama.gov is live online customer service, which provides real-time assistance for visitors to the site.

"alabama.gov provides the citizens of Alabama a convenient, efficient, and cost-effective way to access government services and information," said Governor, Bob Riley. "By delivering government through the Internet, Alabamians have yet another way to reach their leaders and conduct business with the state. This leads to greater efficiencies in state government and long-term cost-savings for the state and the citizens of Alabama."

The new design focuses on providing citizens, businesses, and state employees with organized, efficient, and timely access to Alabama information and services. "As a working mother of two, finding the time to take care of business with the state is a real juggling act," said Jeniqua Hutchinson of Montgomery. "alabama.gov lets me get things done when I have the time, with no wait, no matter what time of day."

In addition to its convenient and user-friendly interface, alabama.gov showcases the many online services offered by the state of Alabama. Professionals including nurses, lawyers, chiropractors, and real estate agents can take advantage of licensing services through the Web site. Many new government services are planned for the future, including more professional license renewals as well as the "Citizens in Touch" e-mail notification system, a state news and press release archive, and many other useful features.
