Transforming Government since 2001
New online fund lets Texans support veterans

This Veterans Day, Texas.gov makes it easier than ever to support Texas veterans and their families. Texas.gov teamed up with the Texas Veterans Commission to provide the Texas Veterans Portal, a website that offers a comprehensive range of information from multiple organizations including the Workforce Commission, the Veterans Land Board, 2-1-1 Texas, and TexVET. Veterans and those close to them can visit this site to learn more about benefits, access online services, download pertinent forms, locate community resources, review frequently asked questions, and more.

Texas.gov also recently launched an online service, Fund for Veterans’ Assistance, that lets Texans make tax-deductible donations to support veterans. Sponsored by the Texas Veterans Commission, the Fund awards monetary grants to non-profits and government agencies that provide services to Texas veterans and their families. These organizations address a broad range of veteran needs, including transportation services, counseling, housing assistance, and family and child services.

"Most of us know Texas.gov as the place to complete government services online. But, we also want Texas veterans and their families and supporters to use these convenient online resources. The Texas Veterans Portal and Fund for Veterans' Assistance provide information and services to ensure the ongoing health and well-being of those who have served our country," said Janet Gilmore, Assistant Director of eGovernment Services for the Texas Department of Information Resources.

Texas.gov also offers an easy, convenient way for Texans to access more than 1,000 other online services, including Match the Promise Foundation online donation, Driver License Renewal, and Vehicle Registration Renewal. Users can even access Texas.gov on-the-go with our iPhone and Android mobile applications.
