Ciafardini will work with agencies to make government more efficient by putting more information online. In addition, he will coordinate activities related to the SmartBuy initiative, which uses the government’s buying power to ensure best prices.
Most recently, Ciafardini worked at the State Department, where he managed the visits of high-level foreign dignitaries to the United States for meetings with the president, vice president and secretary of state.
Before that, he worked at the White House as deputy director of scheduling for research and was responsible for the development of an electronic presidential scheduling system.
Ciafardini is a native of Cincinnati and a graduate of George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., where he earned a degree in management.
