Transforming Government since 2001
The Bernhardt Agency, Inc. (TBA), a Portland-based strategic marketing and communications agency specializing in strategic marketing, public relations and public speaking services, announced today an expansion of the agency's capabilities in the area of government marketing programs with a new business practice to focus on Government-to-Citizen communications. Entering 2003, Federal and state government organizations are faced with overwhelming requirements to transition their infrastructures to electronic, Internet-based e-government (e-gov) environments and educate their respective citizen groups on using a multitude of new e-gov capabilities. While many agencies are making noteworthy progress in addressing the new initiatives known as "the Presidential E-gov Initiatives" created to bring the U.S. Government infrastructure into this new age of e-government, there still lies a tremendous challenge in communicating the availability, purpose and usability of many e-gov services to the ultimate users of these services: citizens and businesses.

"We are seeing a very strong demand for creative marketing services as government agencies struggle to reach and educate targeted groups of citizens on matters of public safety, healthcare, and Internet-based access to numerous government services," said Michael Bernhardt, president and CEO of The Bernhardt Agency, Inc. "While hundreds of marketing and public relations agencies offer Business-to-Government and Government-to-Government communications programs, we've identified a major, urgent need in helping government agencies develop creative, compelling messages targeted to the citizen infrastructure."

While TBA will focus on Government-to-Citizen marketing programs such as public relations campaigns, advertising, direct marketing programs and public speaking engagements, the agency has formed strategic alliances with several prestigious organizations to round out a full-service offering of government market consulting services from securing and implementing U.S. Government and private sector contracts and grants, to business consulting services, seminars, political lobbying, issues campaign management and International business development and fundraising. TBA has formed strategic marketing alliances with the following organizations:

Citizen-centric Communications

The Presidential e-gov initiatives (www.feapmo.gov/resources/24_PPE-Gov_Init_Rev_1.pdf) are intended to reduce the complexity and frustration of doing business with the government while dramatically improving the speed and efficiency with which citizens can accomplish many day-to-day tasks. Government organizations are reaching out to creative marketing, advertising and public relations suppliers to help build public confidence in using e-government portals and in general to educate the public to thinking in terms of an e-world.

TBA's Government-to-Citizen business practice provides a unique focus to help government agencies at both the state and federal level communicate effectively with messages that resonate among multiple citizen groups. TBA already offers consulting and marketing support services to address Business-to-Government marketing, both directly and through several strategic alliance partners.

"We've placed a high priority on building strong relationships with strategic alliance partners that bring a multitude of offerings and years of experience to the table," added Bernhardt. "Our alliances have been key to our survival during the lean years and our success in catapulting out of the down economy."
