Transforming Government since 2001
Nevada's Web site ranks 10th best in the country, a report finds.

The rating is provided in a report by "State and Federal E-Government in the United States, 2005," Gov. Kenny Guinn announced Thursday.

The Nevada site, http://nv.gov, ranked 35th in the same report last year but now is behind only Utah, Maine, New Jersey, North Carolina, Michigan, Tennessee, Delaware, Massachusetts and Mississippi. The sites were evaluated based on a number of various features, including online publications, databases, services and readability, along with disability access and privacy/security policies, the governor's office said.

"I am very proud of the combined work by Web masters from various state agencies who have all contributed to the success of our official state Web site, and the accolades that site has received from not just this publication, but the general public as well," Guinn said.

Nevada's Web site includes links to all state government sites in Nevada. Per month, it averages 6.9 million hits and between 300-400 requests for information from citizens involving available state services. Many enhancements to the site have occurred as a result of citizen requests and inquiries, the state said.
