The Tramway becomes the first non-MTA operated entity to adopt OMNY payments and fare capping, bringing a more modern transit experience to passengers.

The Roosevelt Island Tramway has officially introduced the OMNY tap-and-go fare payment system, allowing riders to use their smart devices or contactless payment cards for a faster, more convenient transit experience. The launch marks a significant milestone as the tramway becomes the first non-MTA-operated service to implement OMNY, with payment stations at 59th St. and 2nd Ave in Manhattan and Tramway Plaza on Roosevelt Island.
