Alabama's innovative official Web site keeps getting better. The state of Alabama recently unveiled its next generation Web portal, which offers a fresh design as well as new features to enhance the visitor experience. As with Alabama's previous Web portal, the new Alabama.gov continues to offer easy-to-use electronic government services and information for all visitors.

The study, conducted for Office of Management and Budget and National Archives and Records Administration officials, suggests nearly a dozen ways that managers can judge the adequacy of agencies' electronic records systems.
The contract is for one year with four one-year options and has a funding capacity of US$150 million over the next five years.

At the federal level, as part of the Recreation.gov e-government initiative Web portal, the Park Service is developing a point-of-sale system that will allow citizens to pay online for entry passes to national parks and forests. That is part of a larger effort to straighten out the agency's internal information technology infrastructure, which has included getting all of the Park Service's employees on the same communications systems and network backbone, said Dom Nessi, chief information officer for the agency.
With the main thrust of e-government initiatives exploring ways to offer services to the public via the Internet, Montgomery County, Md., also found ways to address needs of its other customers -- employees and associates.
