Öffentliche Hand kurbelt IT-Markt in Westeuropa weiter an
Die öffentlichen IT-Investitionen in den westeuropäischen Staaten werden bis 2009 auf 50 Mrd. Dollar steigen. Das bedeutet ein jährliches Plus von 5,3 Prozent. Zu diesen Zahlen kommt der Marktforscher IDC in einer aktuellen Studie zum IT-Markt im Umfeld des öffentlichen Sektors. Besonders investitionsfreudig sehen die Analysten lokale Behörden. Mit einem jährlichen Plus von 6,2 Prozent sollen die Ausgaben 2009 rund 25,5 Mrd. Dollar betragen. Die Ausgaben von Regierungen wachsen hingegen nur mit 4,5 Prozent jährlich, so IDC.

The three-month collaborative pilot project sponsored by the Homeland Security Department and the three countries is intended to gauge the effectiveness of the RFID e-passports, which contain biometric information, along with RFID readers and software. The e-passports are being issued to Australian and New Zealand citizens, Singapore Airlines crew members and some U.S. officials.
