In an effort to keep up to systemic ultra-modern communication, the government of Somaliland is going electronic.

In being set to establish the E-Government technology program (Somaliland e-Government) in upgrading the state communication system, the telecommunications and technology minister detailed the methodology at an extraordinary 43rd council of Cabinet Ministers meeting at the Presidency under the chairmanship of the Head of State H.E. Musa Bihi Abdi.

Somalia Minister for Post, Telecom, and Technology, Abdi Ashur Hassan, has praised the 2Africa subsea cable initiative, which will be one of the world's largest subsea cable projects that will interconnect Europe, the Middle East, and 21 landings in 16 countries in Africa.

The 2Africa cable is an initiative of China Mobile International, Facebook, MTN GlobalConnect, Orange, stc, Telecom Egypt, Vodafone and WIOCC. Dalkom Somalia, which has a landing station in Mogadishu, is one the shareholders of WIOCC and Dalkom's CEO is the Chairman of WIOCC Board of Directors.

The National Database and Registration Authority Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Somalia to provide services to the country.

Ambassador Khadija Mohamed signed MOU for Somalia in Islamabad. Pakistan PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi witnessed the signing.

• In Africa, Somalia is followed by Sudan at position 13, Algeria 15th, Reunion 22nd, Tanzania 23rd, Ghana 34th, Western Sahara 36th, Morocco 37th, Kenya, Mayotte 44th, Egypt 45th while Djibouti closed the top 50 index at position 48.
• Citizens in these countries pay Sh68, Sh70, Sh77, Sh101, Sh106, Sh106, Sh112, Sh116, Sh117 and Sh121 for every 1GB of mobile data on average, respectively.
• Zambia, Tunisia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Uganda, Congo, Guinea, Burundi, Lesotho, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso and Mauritius all make it in the top 100, surpassing developed economies such as Germany, the United States, Switzerland, South Korea, Belgium, Portugal, New Zealand, Norway and Netherlands.

On September 10, Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud Siilaanyo alongside a handful of high ranking government officials moved into immigration and citizenship department complex in Somaliland capital of Hargeisa from where he took his first Somaliland E-Passport.
