    The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) launched UAEpedia at GITEX on Monday, designed to become the first comprehensive online encyclopaedia in the UAE, MohamMad Nasser Al Ghanim, TRA Director General, said.

    Majed Al Mesmar, TRA Deputy Director General, told Gulf News that following Shaikh Mohammad’s initiative to support the Arabic language, TRA launched the encyclopedia.

    A working team will be formed to implement eTransformation in two years

    Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), represented by the Information and eGovernment Sector, will launch the Federal eGovernment Plan 2012-2014 at a meeting to be held on April 9, 2012 at The Address Downtown Dubai.

    The UAE Cabinet headed by H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai approved the Plan in February this year.

  • AE: Telemedicine centre offers Dubai patients virtual consultations

    A new centre in Dubai will allow patients to receive a "virtual consultation" from experts around the world.

    The Global Hawk Imaging and Diagnostics centre, the first telemedicine facility to be licensed by the Dubai Health Authority, opened yesterday.

    "A patient can talk to any expert in the UAE or worldwide through live video-conferencing," said Dr Nawab Shafi Ul Mulk, a specialist radiologist at the centre.

    Doctors can immediately access all of the patient's information through digital records during the consultation.

    The Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) has unveiled two new eServices on its website, dubaided.gov.ae for online issuance of initial approvals and for renewing business licences.   • AE: The Emirates Identity Authority launches new e-Services package for customers

    The Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA), the independent federal authority mandated with implementing the Population Register and the ID Card programme, will launch a suite of e-Services this month. The launch is part of EIDA's ongoing efforts to enhance its online services and elevate customer experience to international standards.

    The EIDA registration form for the Population Register and ID Card will be available on the Authority's website - emiratesid.ae - starting end of September 2011.

    A test run of the electronic form has been going on since the beginning of the Holy Month of Ramadan to detect possible gaps and prepare for a foolproof launch of the service by end of this month.

    The partnership involves a team of AIDRC scientists, including Prof. Mérouane Debbah (Chief Researcher), Dr. Bassem Ouni (Lead Researcher), Dr. Thierry Lestable (Executive Director), and Prof. Lucas Cordeiro (Director), who will collaborate with MBZUAI professors to mentor several associate professors, post-doctoral fellows, PhD, and post-graduate students.     The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the UAE has completed the tests of the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) on the Federal Network (FedNet), it said in a statement on Tuesday.
