  • AE: Dubai implements smart parking system to reduce congestion

    ST Engineering is integrating its barrier-free smart car park system with the Salik traffic toll system at one of the largest shopping malls in the world.

    Salik Company (PJSC), which designs, constructs, operates, and maintains the toll gates in Dubai, has announced it is extending its use of ST Engineering Urban Solutions’ TransCore tolling technology used in the traffic toll system to a smart car park system.

  • AE: Dubai improves mobile payment gateway

    New features such as auto-payments have been added to Dubai eGovernment’s mobile payment gateway, making it easier to pay government fees or charges.

    mPay, as the mobile payment gateway is called, is currently used by a number of government agencies including Dubai Police and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.

    The update enables activation of auto-payment/auto-recharge of government services provided by mPay on a regular basis. Users are also able to control over the minimum balance and the maximum payment/charge per transaction.

    Electronic seal ‘Ethaq’ ensures authenticity of documents using UAE PASS

    The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts has acquired the qualified electronic seal solution Ethaq, a paperless initiative that enables digital authenticity of documents with the support of UAE PASS, the secure national digital identity platform for the UAE.

    Ethaq certificate is powered by Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC) and its Root Certificate Authority. It recognises the DIFC Courts as the first Dubai entity to acquire the entirely paperless certificate that enables court documents to be electronically signed, issued, and authenticated.

    Dubai Internet City (DIC), the MENA region’s largest IT cluster, and Dubai Outsource Zone (DOZ), the world’s first freezone dedicated to the outsourcing industry, this week announced growth of 15% as 160 new companies registered in the business parks throughout 2012.

    The continued development and growth of DIC and DOZ falls in line with the vision of H.H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum of developing the emirate as a global hub for the technology industry which is set to continue into 2013. According to a recent report by Gartner Inc, a leading information technology research and advisory company, ICT expenditure in the Middle East is forecast to reach $192 bn in 2013, a 5.5% increase from 2012.

    IDC is delighted to announce Dubai Internet City as Strategic ICT Partner for the research firm's upcoming Middle East CIO Summit 2014, which will take place on February 24–25 at Dubai's landmark Jumeirah Beach Hotel.     Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the introduction of a new smartphone app to facilitate the job of parking inspectors, and ease the processing of parking permits.

    The step is part of RTA’s efforts to equip inspectors with top-notch devices, and ensure the speedy processing of parking permits as well.

  • AE: Dubai invests in online government services

    The government in Dubai has launched a new online public services initiative, designed to make access easier and faster. Known as Dubai Smart Government (DSG), the scheme replaces the existing e-government system and is set to open digital doors to a broad range of business opportunities.

    The goal is to make all government services that can be provided electronically to be available via smart devices within two years, further reducing the need to visit official offices. A set of detailed policies, guidelines and criteria for state agencies is being developed, coordinated by DSG to ensure that all organisations will be aligned towards the same goal.

  • AE: Dubai is the first city in the Middle-East to complete the EMRAM survey

    The in-depth survey, which was carried out for the first time in the Middle East region, involved surveying 21 private and four public hospitals in Dubai to determine to what extent hospitals use digital technology and whether they have a paperless environment.

    The survey is the first step in the DHA's long term aim to ensure all hospitals in the Emirate of Dubai eventually adopt the electronic model which will facilitate the provision of better healthcare services to the community.

    Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) and Dubai eGovernment announced today they have partnered to offer customers an easy online payment experience. Using Al Islami Online Banking, DIB customers can quickly and securely make payments for a range of eGovernment services.

    Under the partnership, Al Islami Online Banking can be used for payment transactions for more than 20 government entities, including Dubai Municipality, Department of Economic Development, DEWA, RTA for traffic and parking fines, Dubai Health Authority and Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

  • AE: Dubai Islamic Bank joins Dubai Trade’s Rosoom service

    Dubai Trade, the premier trade facilitator under Dubai World, and Dubai Islamic Bank, or DIB, have signed an agreement to integrate the bank’s direct debit services with the portal’s e-payment gateway, Rosoom.

    The partnership will enable supply chain companies using the Dubai Trade portal (www.dubaitrade.ae) to access their DIB accounts online and execute monetary transactions seamlessly.

    The agreement was signed by Dubai Trade Director Mahmood Al Bastaki and DIB Head of Electronic Banking Musabbah Al Qaizi.

    The United Arab Emirates city of Dubai has launched the second phase of the regional government e-claims project with its transition to a paperless claims system.

    The first phase of the Dubai Health Authority's e-claims project launched in June, when the Dubai government's 100,000 employees were transitioned into an electronic claims system.

    Now, all the other public and private insurance plans in Dubai, one of seven emirates of the UAE's federal system, will be using the claims system.
