This will be done at the June 23 and 24, Caribbean E-Government Strategy Planning Workshop slated for the St Kitts Marriott Resort.
During his address as featured speaker, the Deputy Prime Minister is expected to tell regional delegates that it is essential to get the right strategies in place, so that “we are adequately positioned to survive and thrive within a global society which itself has radically changed.” He also will highlight the implementation and growth of E-systems in St Kitts and Nevis paying particular attention to the role being played by the National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Center in training citizens.
The two-day workshop is organized by the Caribbean Center for Development Administration (CARICAD) and is the final in a three part series of meetings.
According to a press release from the agency, this strategy seeks to create a blueprint for E-Government that taps the expertise of the region, multiplies the successes and gains, … and ensures that constituents receive the level of public service that is needed in tomorrow’s world.
The development of the Caribbean E-Government Strategy utilizes a highly analytical and results-based planning process to identify and plan programmes that build enabling elements for functional cooperation in the region. In addition, the strategy development process is participatory and involves all CARICOM member states and several Caribbean regional institutions.
The release stated that CARICAD recognizes the undeniable value of Information Communication Technologies in achieving transformational outcomes. As such, in keeping with its mandate to modernize the public sectors of the CARICOM member states, it envisages that the development of the Caribbean E-Government Strategy will influence professional standards and promote quality services delivery in public services in the region.
