“The next stage of the state program of development of communication and information technologies for 2009-2012 (E-Azerbaijan) can be adopted by the end of this year, said Rufat Gulmammadov, chief of department under Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies.
“The program has been coordinated with most state institutions and is under final consideration in the Cabinet of Ministers. The new state program will be interdepartmental and it will include numerous projects on definite sphere solutions”, he said.
He noted that along with new projects the program includes the projects that are the continuations of the currently implemented ones. They all will promote the wide application of ICT in the society, formation of E-government and expansion of the specter of provided e-services.
According to Gulmammadov, in the near future Azerbaijan will add to the list of 10 countries by the ICT development rates. “The country has necessary conditions, the standard legislative basis and promising projects for this purpose”, he noted.
