Prince Mohammed bin Salman the Saudi Crown Prince and Chairman of the Board of Directors of NEOM promised to build a network of smart cities, in which there will be no cars or roads. This smart city network is called ”The Line”.

Bin Salman explained by 2050, a billion people would be displaced due to rising CO2 emissions and sea levels. And that currently, 90% of people are breathing polluted air. As well, the infrastructure will cost $100 billion to $200 billion.

Meanwhile, the new 170km city which would have zero cars, streets, and carbon emissions. The city would let its one million inhabitants fulfill all their daily requirements within a five-minute walk out of their homes.

On other hand, “The Line” project will be funded by $500 billion support to Neom by the Saudi government, PIF, and local and global investors over 10 years, referring to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.

Noteworthy, Neom is a major part of Prince bin Salman’s plan to diversify the economy of the world’s largest crude exporter. Announced in 2017, the project spans more than 10,000 square miles in a remote area of the country’s northwest. It’s described on its website as “a bold and audacious dream” that will become a hub for new technologies and businesses
