At the working visit of His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, yesterday to the Public Works department, various roles and departments were highlighted, to show the technical roles and responsibilities of the departments and units under the Public Works Department. In an effort to motivate civil servants to address their roles and responsibilities with dedication and efficiency, the heads and directors of the departments briefed His Royal Highness on various on-going projects such as the 'Electronic Integrated Document Project System' (e-IDPS), where its sole purpose is to increase facilitation in design and documentation or drawings for all project execution.

One other department, that was highlighted was the Administrative and Finance department.

The roles, functions and responsibilities of the Administrative and Finance department are to provide administrative and financial service; to increase the levels of capability, expertise, knowledge and human resource qualifications; to insure that the information-communication technological needs are met, while insuring the practice of safety and health in the work place are adhered.

Another project that was presented to His Royal Highness was the 'PROMISe' project (Project Management and Information System Enterprise), which is one project from the Ministry of Development under the e-Government initiative to increase the effectiveness of project management and project reporting.

The Technical Administration department's, under the Public Works Department, main roles concentrates more on their preparation of building plans in terms of graphic, design and concept works.

They also have geology and earthquake research as well as geology engineering and the environmental health of the country.

According to the Acting Public Relations Officer from the Prime Minister's Office, the Crown Prince's working visit yesterday was a success.

"We managed to highlight the various departments' roles without any problems and everything went according to plan and followed the schedule," said Dk Nooresmah.

In conjunction with the visit, the Public Works Department also unveiled its new e-Billing system for clients and customers, as part of its ongoing e-initiatives.
