The Electronic Educational Gate (e-Gate) is aimed at making use of modern technology in academics through the internet link between schools, the directorates and departments of education and the ministry. It helps to share the database between the school administrations, teachers, students and parents.

Dr Salim bin Said Al Bahri, director-general at the Directorate-General of Education for Al Buraimi said: “The e-Gate project is about the future plans on utilising the technology and contemporary knowledge and sciences in modernisation of administrative systems.”

The project is a step taken by the Ministry of Education to keep abreast of the national strategy of Oman Digital Society and the e-Government,” he added.

“The e-Gate team since its inception has set a comprehensive action plan and a mechanism for execution of the plan during the school year 2007/2008. The plan included training workshops and programmes in cooperation with the technical committee at the ministry,” said Moza bint Khamis Al Badi, deputy director of education department at the Directorate-General of Education in Al Buraimi. She stressed on the significance of setting up orientation programmes on the e-Gate by the schools to spread awareness.

Qais bin Said Al Zaidi, deputy head of the e-Gate team in Buraimi, said the e-Gate is a website that with multiple services and programmes.
