Transforming Government since 2001
Dubai eGovernment is endorsing and sponsoring the 11th GCC e-Government and Telecom Forum, the largest forum of its kind in the region, which will be held from May 21 to 25, 2005, at Dubai World Trade Center.

The forum, organised by Datamatix will focus on the latest e-Government developments and initiatives in the region and will highlight the measures adopted by nations to prepare their communities, businesses and managements implementing e-Governance. Salem Al Shair, Director of eServices, Dubai eGovernment, said, 'We have continued our support to the GCC e-Government Forum as we aim to extensively promote the benefits of e-Governance in the region. We will be focusing on the challenges faced by e-Governments in the region with regard to leadership, budgets, implementation and management and highlight the role of corporate organisations in making GCC e-Governments work.'

'The Dubai eGovernment project was initiated by H.H. General Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister, whose vision to establish Dubai as a leading economic hub in the region, is contributing towards the digital transformation of the Emirate. Dubai e-Government is setting a good example for other government departments by enhancing its services to citizens, by adopting latest internet and communication technology solutions,' added Al Shair.

The forum will be an ideal platform for participants to learn from global e-Government initiatives, to evaluate the benefits of strategic alliances between e-Government agencies and information and communication technology providers, to determine developments in e-Government system security, to discover opportunities for e-business in the GCC and to measure the success of the e-Government program.

The forum presents a meeting ground for IT and telecom professionals, technology providers and senior government officials from the GCC region. It provides the opportunity to learn from the experiences of expert regional and international speakers as well as share ideas on the development and implementation of e-Government projects.

International experts participating in the event including James Jarrett, Vice President, Legal and Government Affairs, Intel Corporation, Jens Mortensen, Vice President, Public Services and eGovernment, Oracle Europe, Middle East & Africa, Dr. Khaled bin Abdullah AlSabti, e-Government Program Director, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, KSA, will cover topics like technology innovations, business process re-engineering strategies, building e-Government infrastructure and web services.

'As GCC Governments begin to realise the potential of IT in driving growth and sustainable development, Dubai eGovernment will make every effort to contribute to the success of eGovernment initiatives in the region,' concluded Al Shair.
