Transforming Government since 2001
Dubai eGovernment has launched its mPay services, to make paying bills easier via SMS.

Currently, it is available for recharging Salik road toll and can now be used to pay Dubai Electricity and Water Authority bills.

The scheme has been designed to improve customer satisfaction within all government departments, and make it easier to pay bills - cutting out the need to spend time queuing in person, or time spent on the telephone.

mPay will be using the secure eGovernment ePay system, which is compliant with the secure 'Verified by Visa' and MasterCard 'SecureCode' systems, designed to protect consumers against online credit card fraud.

ePay is the existing payment gateway, which includes multiple payment channels such as the internet, kiosks and IVR (interactive voice response).

Salem Al Shair, eServices Director at Dubai eGovernment, said: "Dubai eGovernment has been actively pursuing innovative solutions that are in tune with the ongoing transformation of Dubai as a global economic hub.

On the move

"In a society where speed and efficiency are key factors for success, the availability of online platforms is imperative and crucial to sustaining the desired growth levels.

"The mPay service has been specifically designed to serve this purpose, providing a quick and easy means to settle government fees for people who are always on the move."

Initial registration is required via the mPay online portal: https://mpay.dubai.ae/userPortal

However, initial investigations have shown that only mobile phones with a '050' prefix (Etisalat) are currently able to register.

Ajman: e-service starts

Ajman's Municipality and Planning Department has launched a new e-services platform, to provide more efficient services to residents.

The new service will include an online portal for receiving applications and managing queries.

The portal enables businesses and individuals to access 18 Municipality services, for example land registration, agricultural and work permit-related services through the automated system.
