The General Information Authority (GIA) a federal agency set up to help government institutions with information technology, is to revampt its portal.

The Arabic version of the site has already been updated with a new look. GIA recently decided to update and upgrade the site. According to the authority, the upgrading work has started and will finish within ten days. GIA will also be working at the Ministry of Finance for the full implementation of e-government in the country. The GIA was established under in 1982, when it was known as the National Computer Centre. The most important services provided by the GIA include information technology consultancy, study, training and technical support services for all ministries and government institutions.

These include 172 studies for most ministries and government institutions at the federal and local levels. The GIA has analysed, designed and carried out 104 computer systems and applications.
