
The state government will provide internet with 2mbps speed to 317 tehsil offices soon to ensure better service delivery, informed Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Maheswar Mohanty in Assembly Thursday.
The minister said a direction to this effect has already been issued. He said the social media handles of the department in Facebook and Twitter are actively engaged with people in addressing their grievances received online.
As part of the government’s e-governance system, 49.61 lakh various certificates have been issued online though the e-district portal, Mohanty said.
He said all the tehsil offices will be brought under CCTV surveillance apart from installation of biometric attendance system. CCTVs have already been installed in 288 tehsil offices so far, he said. The minister also said the process is on to bring a common revenue code through simplification of revenue laws.
During the discussion of demands for grants of the department taken up in the post-lunch session at 3 pm, leader of Opposition raised the issue of revenue inspectors for all panchayats and a better law for share-croppers. The minister assured the government is actively considering these proposals.
After the discussion, the demand for grants of `1,102 crore for the Revenue department in FY 2018-19 was passed and the house was adjourned.
