SVR Srinivas, Additional Commissioner, said that Mobile Apps work was in final stage. The apps will give information of departments one after the other to Mumbai citizens.
As per BMC’s Information Technology Department officers, testing of Mobile Apps will be completed in a few days. Firstly, water bill payment facility will be provided by the Mobile Apps. Later, property tax payment facility will be added. Other departments will follow suit, step by step.
The BMC website www.mcgm.gov.in can be used to download the application and can be installed free of cost. The consumer can pay the bills through mobile or net banking.
‘Mobile Seva’ aims to provide government services to the people through mobile phones and tablets. It has been developed as a core infrastructure for the availability of public services through mobile devices. ‘Mobile Seva’ also enables the integration of mobile platform with the common e-governance.
It also enables a government department to integrate both web and mobile-based services seamlessly and enhances the access to electronic services tremendously, leveraging the very high penetration of mobile phones, especially in rural areas.
