Making healthcare facilities available and accessible in remote areas of rural India has been an ongoing challenge due to lack of medical resources, poor infrastructure and connectivity. The E-Health Center overcomes all these road blocks as it is a self sustained infrastructure backed by robust healthcare services through remote access (cloud technology). The center will be continuously monitored by senior and experienced doctors at Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital through techniques like biometric surveillance and cloud enabled medical devices.
According to World Health Organisation (WHO), the global standard of doctor-population ratio is 1:250. However, in rural areas of Jharkhand, the doctor-population ratio is 1:34,000 due to the dearth of medical services. In India, about seventy-five percent of health care infrastructure, medical manpower and other health resources are concentrated in urban areas where 27 percent of the population live.
Commenting on the launch of E-Health Center, Dr. Ajay Kumar, MP Jamshedpur while talking to the media persons said that the facility will be available for public by March end alongside the same centre at Baghbera. HP has started the initiative in 12 locations all over the country from which we have managed to draw 2 which is a big thing for the district and the state. The centre will be for everyone as maximum population of the state is lower middle class and it will cater to the needs of 80 % of the population. The charges for the tests will be nominal and the cost to run the centre will only be taken while consultation will be free. This centre will enable healthcare access to over three to four lakh people residing in and around Jamshedpur
Vineet Saini, Facility Director, Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, Jamshedpur, said, “The healthcare situation in rural Jharkhand is in a dismal state dominated by contagious waterborne diseases, reproductive tract infections and other chronic ailments which has led to high mortality rate. With this initiative we envision to provide the basic healthcare requirements to rural people in this state without any infrastructural constraints. He further added, “This is just a beginning and in future we plan to extend this innovative service to other backward parts of the state.”
The intelligent E – Health Center is equipped with all modern medical technology such as cloud-integrated diagnostic equipments, tele medicine service, laboratory and pharmacy. This set-up is enabled by built-in electricity and internet connectivity to ensure the doctors at Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital can consult the patients and counsel them on required treatment. This centre will enable healthcare access to over three to four lakh people residing in and around Jamshedpur such as Galudih, Ghatsila, Surda, Musabani, Baharagoda and Chakulia.
Narayana Health has one of the largest telemedicine networks in India that reaches out to areas where healthcare facility/ infrastructure is remote.
