"Traders and factory owners are finding it difficult to get their licences renewed. Strict action should be taken against erring officials,'' said Farhad Suri, leader of the opposition, south corporation.
A recent report says 546 applications for renewal of factory licences were pending for more than 60 days. Similarly, 46 applications were pending for health trade licences.
Traders say the civic agency is doing little to expedite the sanctioning or renewal of licences. They feel the procedure needs to be simplified. "At present, those who have a licence are asked for property documents, etc. The erstwhile MCD did not issue any new general trade licence to traders in Chandni Chowk after the Master Plan of Delhi 2021 came into effect. Only 7,600 traders were registered MCD's city zone,'' said Sanjay Bhargava, general secretary, Chandni Chowk Sarv Vyapar Mandal. South corporation commissioner Manish Gupta said they will form a committee to address the problems.
