"After the successful launch of Governance, the state migrating to Mobile Governance (mGovernance) to bring closer IT technology to the stake holders and common man", he said speaking at a seminar on 'Animation' organised by the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) to mark the International Animation Day here.
He said eGovernance, which was doing more than Rs 40,000 crore business, had recently won 'e-Procurement in Asia' award at Kulalampur with Tokyo and South Korea were placed second and third.
Mr Vidyashankar said the state government which received global acclamation for its unique 'Bhoomi' project through which any land owner gets Patta certificate online, would soon come out with 'Jaankari' and 'Swagat' schemes. While 'Jaanakari' was meant for popularising Right To Information Act, 'Swagat' facilitates filing of complaints relating to local bodies.
He said these two schemes would be introduced by December 2010.
Policy on Animation in offing
Mr Vidyashankar on this occasion also said that the Karnataka Government will soon announce its policy on animation to benefit from this industry which is growing at 30 per cent.
Mr Vidyashankar who is also state e-Governance Principal Secretary said "The Animation industry is growing at 30 per cent to 32 per cent and it is expected to touch one billion US dollar mark by 2011-12. To en cash the opportunity and to make Karnataka/Bangalore as Animation hub as it was done in case of IT hub, the State Government is coming out with a Policy on Animation very soon. The Policy is in the pipeline," he said.
He said it was proposed to hold "Bangalore Animation and Gaming" (BANG) event, the first of its kind in the world, exclusively devoted for animation, to increase the visibility and imprint. The event may be held annually or biannially on the lines of IT-BIZ, BIO in which global industries were participating every year.
In Cannada, US and North America there are 24/7 channels on Animation and in Asia Japan, Philippines leads the sector. It is mainstream channel in these countries.
