Transforming Government since 2001
Upset about an abandoned vehicle in your neighborhood? Or maybe you just want to let the city know that a street light is out. Now residents can fill out specialized forms online about these and many other issues which are funneled to the appropriate city department head.

By going to the city’s Web site — www.mountvernonohio.org — and clicking on the E-Gov link in the upper left hand corner, you will be taken to the city’s E-Government Service Web site. There you will find Action Line Forms, documents that can be downloaded, and a community calendar.

To complete an Action Line Form, give the contact information and then write the nature of the complaint or suggestion and the location to which it pertains. The forms are used to request services or information or issue a complaint. Under the Street Department, there are 17 forms:

Brush; Curb and Gutter; Dead Animal Removal; Line of Sight Obstruction; Mowing along streets, alleys or right of ways; Potholes; Sidewalk Repair; Snow — Plowing/Removal; Storm Drainage/Erosion; Street Improvements; Street Light Out; Street Name Signs; Street Sweeping; Traffic Signals/Signs; Tree and Limb trimming or dead tree; Utility Cuts; and Utility Patching.

After submitting the request, a tracking number is generated which allows you to check its status.

The other forms include Safety Service: Abandoned/unlicensed vehicle; General Nuisance Report; General Question; High Grass Complaint; and Trash and Garbage Complaint. Another form allows you to contact the mayor on any unresolved city department problems. One can also contact the Division of City Income Tax, the Water Department, and ask to receive City Council agendas via e-mail.

The E-Gov Web site also contains a number of documents and forms that can be downloaded — past council agendas, council minutes, request forms to speak at council, a parade or event application, and an application for employment.

Dee Brown, assistant clerk of council, said the city is trying to keep up with the times.

“We hope it provides another method for the community contact us and allow us to serve them,” she said.
