The Sixth Annual Congress on the Digital Transition in Africa is being held in Paris from October 25 to 27.

Since 2011, this conference has brought together the main decision-makers of the African digital ecosystem. For three days, 1,000 participants from all over the continent, decision-makers from the public and private sectors, ministerial delegations, and corporate and civil society representatives, will discuss the role of digital technology in Africa and the opportunities for personal services, the strengthening of democracy through e-government, and economic growth.

They will discuss strategies to be implemented to meet the challenges of digital infrastructures, training, and the funding of the digital transition.

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs is co-directing the government’s 2015-2017 “development and digital technology” action plan. Digital technology is a tremendous tool for growth in developing countries, as long as accessible, secure, open, and multicultural access to the Internet is facilitated and digital ecosystems are strengthened.

This Congress on the Digital Transition in Africa will prepare round tables devoted to digital technology to be held in Abidjan on November 28, ahead of the fourth European Union-African Union summit on November 29-30. They will contribute to the European Commission’s considerations of this subject.
