E-Government division national coordinator Dr Martine Mtonga says 11,000 government workers have not yet been tracked on e-payslip.

Dr Mtonga urged Eastern Province permanent secretary Chanda Kasolo to alert administration officers in all the districts that government workers who would not be on the e-pay slip would receive their last pay this December.

“So the last pay we are going to transmit to those that are not on e-pay slip is for the month of December because we want to get rid of ghost workers, so we are assuming that the 11,000 are ghost workers. In January [2019] there is no pay,” he said.

Dr Mtonga said 198,000 government workers had already been captured on e-pay slip.

And Dr Mtonga also said the government would use two systems for input distribution under the Farmer Input Support Programme.

“There was a notion, which was said, that there is conventional. I have to put it straight that there is no conventional, so we are not going to have DACOs [District Agricultural Coordinators] and PACOs [Provincial Agricultural Coordinators] keeping fertiliser in their backyards,” he said. “Every bag of fertiliser will be captured in the SMART–Zambia system, the system is called Zambia Integrated Agriculture Management Information System. Now in this system we have got two ways on how we are going to distribute the inputs. We have one way which is called direct redeem and e-voucher.”

Dr Mtonga said Chipata, Lundazi, Chadiza, Katete and Petauke were under direct redeeming [cardless] while Mambwe, Nyimba, Sinda and Vubwi would be under e-voucher system.

Meanwhile, Kasolo assured Dr Mtonga that the vehicle which was given to the e-government department in the province would be put to good use.
