The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has asked Majlis (the Iranian parliament) to help expand e-government in state-run organization, Mehr reported on Monday.
Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi discussed the issues during the visit of Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani to the ICT ministry on Monday morning.
The ICT ministry asked Majlis to order organization to register any credit or revenue resulted from information exchange on National Information Network (NIN), the head of Information Technology Organization of Iran (ITO) Amir Nazemi who also attended the meeting announced.
The National Information Network is an ongoing project to develop a secure and stable infrastructure network in the country.
“The Majlis should obliged the state-run organization to offer their online services for more than 100,000 users at the NIN,” he said.
The e-services provided by the judicial system of Iran, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation and municipalities across Iran should be also under the laws of e-government, he added.
The ministry also urged Majlis to order organization to offer all online bill payment and all e-services through the Mobile Government, otherwise it violates citizen privacy, he added.
The first phase of e-government services project in Iran officially came on stream under the title of ‘Mobile Government’ in mid-May 2018.
The project aims to facilitate some government services, reduce unnecessary expenses and ease traffic jam, which is the main cause of air pollution in big cities.
It is based on the National Information Network, an ongoing project to develop a secure and stable infrastructure network in the country.
