The data centre, being built at the Maluana Science and Technology Park in Maputo Province in collaboration with the government of China, will centralise the hosting of the government’s applications, platforms and communication networks, said the Science and Technology Ministry. It is expected to reduce the costs currently incurred in running widely distributed servers.
Officially laying the foundation stone, Prime Minister Dr. Alberto Clementino Vaquina said the government recognises the important role ICTs play in the country’s development. He said the government was actively supporting ICT progress, through the expansion of the mobile network, the implementation of e-Government, the expansion and modernisation of the telecommunications infrastructure with the use of fibre optics.
