“The Ministry of Interior’s sponsorship comes within the framework of cooperation and coordination with ictQatar to highlight the role of the MoI in enhancing the services it offers to the both Qatari nationals and residents and turning these services from paper-based to electronic, which has achieved great success,” said Rinal Chaaban, Qitcom project lead, fischerAppelt qatar, commenting on MoI’s sponsorship of this year’s edition of the exhibition.
She added: “Qitcom 2014 seeks to attract the best institutions, companies, and exhibitors locally, regionally and internationally by offering them the chance to exhibit their products and sponsor this exceptional event which focuses on promoting the visitor experience as well as discussing and introducing cutting-edge ICT innovations from around the world.”
Qitcom is Qatar’s largest ICT event and is a platform for all aspects of ICT development and innovation in Qatar, the region and internationally. It will feature a conference with keynote speeches and panel discussions from international ICT experts, in addition to an exhibition and regional awards program showcasing the growth and aspirations of Qatar’s ICT sector and how these technological developments can play a key role in Qatar. Qitcom features activities such as the Innovation Theatre, Tech Zone and Case Competitions.
MoI’s Information Systems Department will represent the Ministry and will display the latest electronic systems and devices which the department uses to facilitate easy and convenient public interaction with the Ministry through a wide range of e-services recently launched, including Metrash 2.
MoI participated in the previous editions of Qitcom with a pavilion that displayed the Ministry’s latest equipment and some of the systems it launched such as Metrash 2, the Geographical Directory, the Electronic Certification System at the General Directorate of Civil Defense, Self-Service Machines, as well as other advanced services for Qatari nationals and residents such as the smart ID card.
Last year, the Information Systems Department introduced Metrash 2, a simple and time-efficient service allowing members of the public to execute services through their mobile phones, such as issuing Exit Permits for personal sponsorships, issuing Exit Permits for company-sponsored personnel, viewing traffic violations and paying fines, viewing data of official documents registered for individuals etc.
