A national online conference on thoroughly grasping and implementing Politburo’s Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW regarding the planning, construction, management and sustainable development of urban areas in Viet Nam to 2030 with a vision to 2045 took place on Wednesday morning.

In attendance at the Ha Noi broadcast point were Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission Tran Tuan Anh, Secretary of the Party Central Committee cum Head of the Central Committee’s Publicity and Education Department Nguyen Trong Nghia, and Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh.

Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang, and Standing Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee cum Chairman of the municipal People's Council Luong Nguyen Minh Triet made their attendance at the Da Nang broadcast point.

During the virtual conference, presentations and solutions for urban planning and development in the coming time were presented by representatives from central and local ministries and branches.

As for Da Nang, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam underlined a must-do for the city to proactively take a number of drastic solutions, including issuing guidelines and policies on smart urban development, in order to realise its target of turning itself into a large, smart and creative urban area.

He revealed that the Da Nang Party Committee has recently issued Resolution No. 05-NQ/TU on digital transformation in the city until 2025, with orientations towards 2030. Under the resolution, digital transformation is identified as the key to solve bottlenecks, opening up new development spaces as well as achieving the goals in the spirit of Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW regarding the local progress by 2030 with a vision toward 2045.

The purpose of the programme is to promote the application of digital technology and digital data in all management and administration activities in Party and government agencies, and mass organisations.

The focus will be on developing a digital ecosystem and a digital economy, thereby creating a foundation for promoting the development of new industries and fields, and developing a safe, humane and widespread digital environment to form a digital society and digital citizens.

At the online event, Vice Chairman Nam proposed that the Central Government soon issue a controlled experimental policy framework for localities to meet their needs of digital economy development and smart city management.
