The HCMC Department of Information and Communications announced the implementation progress of four focused solutions for Smart City project on November 28.
According to Decision No. 6179/QD-UBND issued by HCMC People’s Committee, there are four prioritized solutions, consisting of building a common database and developing an open database ecosystem; forming an operating center for the Smart City Project; constructing a simulation center to forecast urban economic – social status; and creating an information security center for the whole city.
The first phase of the first solution is going to be launched in January 2019 . Bid invitation will be held in the third quarter to chose investors.
Regarding the second solution, in January 2019, the first phase will start in the HCMC People’s Committee thanks to all the information received from current camera systems of the Office of the HCMC People’s Committee as well as other departments, state organizations and units; along with the emergency numbers of 113 – 114 – 115, the number 1022 to receive and process information related to urban technical infrastructure issues. Until the first quarter of 2019, there will be a final report on the feasibility of building such a center.
HCMC Institute for Development Studies will cooperate with the HCMC Departments of Planning and Investment, Information and Communications to analyze, evaluate, and then propose a suitable model of a simulation center to forecast the urban socio-economic status for the city in the medium term.
This model is expected to be announced in January 2019 to serve the task of preparing necessary documents for the 11th meeting of the HCMC Party Committee.
In December 2018, the HCMC People’s Committee will select a suitable plan to create a joint stock company to operate an information security center for the city, while assigning Saigon Industry Corporation to finish the task in the first quarter of 2019 since this organization has necessary potential of human resources and specific policies.
Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Director of the HCMC Department of Information and Communications, stated that the Smart City Project is a continuous and open one, requiring the collaboration of various resources in the society. Therefore, the municipal leaders wish to receive practical and effective suggestions from the public as well as businesses to ensure its success.
“This year, the city is mainly trying to mobilize and prepare human resources for the project. However, next year, other resources and the finance will be utilized, all of which need careful and transparent monitoring”, said Mr. Duc.
