The Arabian Internet and Communications Services Co, known as Solutions by STC, a Saudi end-to-end digital solutions innovator, is the latest big name to become involved in the development of the new Saudi Arabian city Neom.

Solutions by STC, has signed several contracts with the Saudi Telecom Company, which offers a wide range of telecommunications services, to build a modern data centre in the new city.

The contracts, valued at SR201.3 million (about $53.7 million), will contribute to the establishment of the data centre’s infrastructure, cloud platform and other applications.

According to a report in the Arab News publication, the project involves designing and building digital solutions for Neom Telco Park’s digital platform as well as data centre support – from concept to project delivery. It includes data centre campus enablement, system integration, infrastructure services, and physical security solutions, a digital platform enabling Neom to provide private cloud services to its customers, and solutions and technology maintenance and support.

The project delivery and implementation will be within one year starting from the contract signing date, which was 24 October, and will involve support services for three years.

As we mentioned earlier this month, two other companies, Neom and FAS Energy, have been given permission to develop and operate data centres in the brand-new city in Saudi Arabia.

The city of Neom is to be built in the Tabuk Province of north-western Saudi Arabia. It is planned to incorporate smart city technologies and also to function as a tourist destination. Saudi Arabia aims to complete the first section of Neom by 2025.
