Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has announced a transformative partnership between Kaduna and China to build a cutting-edge e-government system.

The initiative, which aligns with Nigeria’s pursuit of industrialisation, is set to enhance efficiency, public security, and transparency in governance.

On Tuesday, Governor Sani highlighted that the project will establish an e-government platform and make education, healthcare, and talent development “smart” while promoting renewable energy usage.

He expressed optimism about the potential of the “smart city” project to benefit both Kaduna State and the entire Northeastern region of Nigeria.

“This partnership with China’s tech giant, Huawei, will immensely benefit our over five million residents, 80% of whom are engaged in agriculture,” Sani stated.

He stressed that this collaboration would bolster industrialisation efforts in the region.

The project comes on the heels of strengthened bilateral ties between Nigeria and China following President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Beijing. During the visit, Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Tinubu elevated China-Nigeria relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, resulting in cooperation agreements, including the Kaduna “smart city” project.

Governor Sani also revealed plans to attract further investments from China, following an earlier partnership with Hebei Province to construct an industrial park in Kaduna.

“We will leverage our strong ties with China to bring more investors into Kaduna and support our development efforts,” he added.
