South Korea, through its agency for international cooperation (KOICA), has offered N158m ($500,000) for the renovation of e-government training centre, sited at the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN).

The country’s ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Noh Kyu-duk, at the kickoff ceremony in Abuja, said the gesture was to institutionalise e-government system in Nigeria.

He said the centre would aid the public service to build capacity for project implementation.

He therefore urged the institute to ensure efficient use of the fund and carry out the renovation as planned.

“As you know, IT is a very good project for Nigeria to use this e-government system, through which you will train the public officials on implementing project,” he said.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications, Arch Sunday Echono, expressed appreciation to the Korean government.

He reiterated the federal government commitment to the implementation of e-government master plan.

“We as a government are also committed and the Federal Executive Council has approved the road map for ICT. It is the instrument in implementing the e-government master plan.

“We are going to see a gradual transformation of every aspect of government using and leveraging on ICT…So that we carry out transactions online,” he said.
