In an effort to boost electronic services in the sultanate, the Information Technology Authority (ITA) organised a one-day workshop for government entities participating in the Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in eGovernment 2016.

The workshop reviewed the jury recommendations highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of the participating projects. Participants from 28 government entities attended the workshop that was held in the Supreme Council for Planning with the participation of some officials from ITA and some jury members of 2016 award, stated a press release.

Omar Salim al Shanfary, deputy CEO for operations at ITA, said, “This workshop comes to complement ITA’s efforts in the development of eServices in the sultanate and the award. We invited the government entities participating in the last edition of the award to review the projects’ strengths and weaknesses based on the jury’s report, achieve e.oman strategy and provide electronic services that satisfy the ambition of the citizens and residents in the sultanate.”

Dr Abdulmunim al Kharusi, a jury member in the fifth edition of the award in his presentation, emphasised the importance of cooperation between the working groups in each government entity and the need for community involvement in the development of eServices.

Dr Ahmed al Hosni, another jury member presented the flaws in the projects and focused on the sustainability of services.
