This is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transition from an e-government to smart government.

As part of its strategy to enhance efficiency and performance through leading-edge information technology solutions, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) launched the Government e-Service Fees platform and a Strategic Partnerships Map at GITEX Technology Week 2019. These initiatives underscore the ministry's commitment to further improve its services and adopt best practices in digital transformation. This is in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transition from an e-government to smart government.

The initiatives were launched at the Ministry of Finance’s stand at GITEX, where H.E. Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of MoF, along with several senior leaders and directors, officials and specialists from the ministry, representatives from government entities, the media and visitors were present.

H.E. Younis Haji Al Khoori said: “The Ministry of Finance is determined to keep pace with the rapid technological development that the world is witnessing by adopting cutting-edge solutions that contribute to the digitization of our work. We aim to further improve the government’s financial work in line with the highest international standards, in order to raise efficiency and reduce human errors, thus increasing customer satisfaction.”

H.E. added: “We launched the Government e-Service Fees platform and Strategic Partnerships Map during GITEX, as it represents a platform where various government entities, as well as our customers are present. It provides us an opportunity to showcase how these new initiatives help improve the services provided by the ministry.”

The Government e-Service Fees platform is one of the ministry's latest innovations, which allows customers to search for all the services provided by federal government entities, along with the fees for each. To make the customer journey more efficient and ease access to information, this is done through a single portal on the ministry’s website. The platform currently provides information on over 7,600 services for retail, private and public clients from more than 51 federal government entities, including 15 ministries and 41 federal entities.

The Strategic Partnerships Map, meanwhile, shows the history of the tax agreements signed by the nation, and highlights the ministry's efforts over 30 years to avoid double taxation and protect and encourage investments. This aims to reduce taxes on investments and profits from direct and indirect taxation, and provide protection against non-commercial risks, thereby enhancing the country's competitiveness and bolstering its standing as an attractive destination for investments. The UAE has signed 224 agreements to date, including 128 to avoid double taxation and 96 to protect and encourage investments.

The Ministry of Finance participates at GITEX Technology Week every year as per the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. As part of the federal government stand, the ministry showcases its latest digital and smart services, while also directly communicating with customers to gather their feedback.
