Some of the long delayed projects including Ginnori arch bridge, Sadar Manzil (restoration work), Smart Park and Smart Road projects are likely to be opened to the public, ahead of soon to be announced municipal corporation polls. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan is expected to inaugurate these projects in the third week of December, according to sources.

The completion of these projects comes less than two months after BMC commissioner KVS Chaudary put the delayed projects on fast track map. Contractors were pulled up for delay and committees were formed to clear all pending issues.

For instance, in November, Bhopal smart city development corporation limited (BSCDCL) formed an expert group of consultants from MANIT for completion of Ginnori Arch bridge. The move led to ending of legal dispute for acquisition of land and long-delayed project is now ready.

Various hiccups, including financing of the projects and halts in imports have also been resolved.

Another project under smart city development is ‘Smart Road’, 2.2 km in length and 30 metres wide smart road has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 40 crore. Work is almost complete with acquisition of remainder of the land done early in November. Smart park is adjacent to the smart road.

Another project that was delayed due to the pandemic is 5 acres of Dussehra ground, which has been increased to 14 acres and is being upgraded at a cost of Rs 26 crore. It is expected to take more time. However, housing for all allotment is expected to continue at an increased pace in Kokta (Transport Nagar).

Sadar Manzil is also expected to be opened for public in the third week of December, said sources.

These projects are mainly undertaken under smart city development.
