To streamline the State’s school education system and be prepared for futuristic challenges, Punjab Government has launched online school management system e-Punjab School, e-Office, grievances redressal system, biometric attendance system, GIS mapping of schools, unification of portals, mobile applications, among various software.

Adopting the information technology to make the school education department up-to-date, a number of initiatives have been taken under the e-governance programme.

“Online school management system e-Punjab School, e-Office, grievances redressal system, biometric attendance system, availability of Adhaar card to students, GIS mapping of schools, unification of portals, mobile applications and various other softwares have been launched,” said the state Education Minister OP Soni on Wednesday.

The Minister said that online system ‘e-Punjab school’ has been implemented in all government schools under which information regarding school staff, students and school infrastructure is provided online and it has been updated by the concerned school managements at regular intervals.

An online system called e-Office has also been adopted to monitor the activities of diary or DAK and files movements.

Apart from this, online complaint redressel system has been linked to the departmental website wherein each staff member can make their complaint online, which automatically marked to concerned branch for the next course of action.

A mobile-based biometric attendance system has also been developed to ensure attendance in schools. “Aadhaar card number generated of 99 percent government school students online and this number has been linked to various scholarships and other incentive schemes,” said the Minister.

Soni said that GIS mapping of all government schools has also been conducted for the purpose of creating a proper record of school properties, and after this, the actual distance between one school to another can be find online.

“The School Education Department has also introduced a number of mobile applications, including the provision of school login (for school heads), staff login (for staff members) and MDM (monitoring of mid day meal) etc,” he added.
