New developments to be incorporated
The sub-policies and guidelines envisaged under the Kerala Information Technology (IT) Policy, 2017, will go for a comprehensive overhaul in May.
“Several elements will have to be incorporated in tune with the global IT scenario in the past one year,” IT Secretary M. Sivasankar told The Hindu on Saturday.
He said that the inputs and the interventions from the upcoming Global IT Summit, #Future, to be held in Kochi from March 22, would help address shortcomings, if any, in the sub-policies. An array of experts are expected to give their opinion that would formalise the government plan to adopt numerous e- governance initiatives.
“A better framework can be evolved to integrate government departments in tune with technological developments. A key element that has to be looked into is the identification and study of the Geographic Information System (GIS) maps for sharing the data among departments,” he said.
Bringing in Malayalam computing, creation of digital fonts, and preservation of old books were yet to figure in the policy. This too would be incorporated, he said.
Mr. Sivasankar said the policy would have to examine and formulate something on blockchain-based system.
