The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has become the first education board in the country to partner with the Ministry of External Affairs in a landmark e-initiative ‘eSanad’ which will facilitate online attestation of academic documents of Indian students aspiring to go aboard for higher education or employment.

A centralised CBSE digital repository of academic records ‘Parinam Manjusha’ was launched in September last year. This can be now used by employers and educational institutions to verify students’ academic records online.

eSanad is aimed at online verification of the documents with an objective to extend contactless, cashless and paperless document attestation/apostille service to applicants in India as well as abroad.

External Affairs Minister, Smt. Sushma Swaraj; Electronics & IT Minister, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad; and HRD Minister, Shri Prakash Javadekar; jointly inaugurated the integration of eSanad with Parinam Manjusha.

The integration of e-Sanad with Parinam Manjusha will help the applicants avoid long travels and precious resources of time and money for getting their documents attested by the concerned authorities in States. It also allows filing the application online. This system will also reduce touts and rackets involved in the verification of documents.

Verifiers can register to the portal and seek the CBSE’s approval to verify the students result data. Verifiers will have to make payment for the data, after which both them and the student whose data is being accessed will be informed through email.

eSanad has been designed and developed by NIC and will be implemented in phases. As a pilot run, the first phase of eSanad has been started in five passport offices and presently it is in the process of being implemented in the Apostille/Attestation Cell of the Ministry.

For the implementation of eSanad in the States, it is being integrated with the General Administration (NRI) Department of the Government of Telangana as a pilot project. General Administration Department of the Government of Telangana is starting the online processing of the application for attestation of documents soon.

Further, eSanad has been integrated with Non- Tax Receipt Portal (NTRP) successfully for cashless payment.
