Tourism Malaysia today at a press conference announced the launch of My Tourist Assist (MyTA) mobile app to support safe travel for tourists in the country. The app was developed by UST Global and is managed by Jana Tiga Holdings Sdn Bhd, a company working with large Malaysian conglomerates.

Malaysia enjoys hosting millions of tourists every year and is one of the most visited countries in the world. My Tourist Assist is an e-Government service under Tourism Malaysia. Tourism Malaysia recognizes the importance of safety for tourists in Malaysia, especially in the event of natural disasters in the region. The app is available for download on Google Play and App Store.

Once the app is downloaded, the user/tourist will have to add their profile and an emergency contact. Key features of the app include ‘UrSafe’ tab with SOS button for sending alert to their near kin in the event of emergency and security services to be immediately alerted. The app also lists various ‘Essential Services’ like police stations, hospitals, pharmacy, ATMs, embassy, train stations and petrol pumps. Tourists can select the service they are looking for and open its location on map to reach there. The app is easy-to-use and highly recommended by the Tourism Malaysia. More features will be added in the coming days.

Commenting on the launch, Gilroy Mathew, Head – APAC, UST Global, said, “We are happy to work with the Malaysia Tourism department in launching My Tourist Assist (MyTA) app. We successfully launched UrSafe back in India and we are proud to bring the same for the safety of tourists in Malaysia.”
