Information Technology will be used as a platform to coordinate with other departments so as to ensure that all the welfare measures announced by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa reach the beneficiaries, stated Minister for Information and Technology R B Udhayakumar.

Talking to Express, Udhayakumar said that he would strive to see that all the welfare measures reach the targeted beneficiaries.

AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa’s motto is to ensure that all beneficiaries in the State are covered by various welfare measures announced by the State, Udhayakumar said. When asked about the poor proportion of Tamils in IT Sector, Udhayakumar said reservation in this sector would not be possible as it is talent that is given prominence. So steps would be taken by the State government to train the students so that they are ahead of candidates from other States.

The Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (ELCOT) resources will be utilised to impart technical training. All departments in the State will be computerised and e-governance will be implemented, Udhayakumar said. There will simultaneous upgradation which will generate employment for the youth like data processing etc. Efforts will also be taken by the State to conduct road shows for setting up IT Parks in all districts.

Udhayakumar who is also the State secretary of students wing of AIADMK has been awarded a Cabinet berth in his maiden term as MLA. It was said that the Cabinet berth was a gesture rewarding faithful functionaries in the district.
