The state of Kentucky has issued a request for proposals for vendors to design a statewide health information exchange network.

The state will use a federal grant to fund the implementation of the network, Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear’s office said in a news release.

The Kentucky Health Information Exchange system would allow doctors and hospitals across Kentucky to electronically share patients’ medical records.

A vendor’s conference for companies interested in learning more about the state’s plan will be held Friday at 10 a.m., in Room 149 of the Capitol Annex in Frankfort.
