Philippines: 31 municipalities sign e-governance 'covenant'
Thirty-one municipalities have signed a covenant indicating their commitment to help each other implement e-governance, a representative of a Canadian International Development Agency-funded project said.As a result of the "E-governance for Municipal Development (eGov4MD)" project, municipal officials have agreed to share skills and resources in the development of e-governance systems.
USA: Study: e-Gov Satisfaction on the Rise
Slight rise in citizen satisfaction follows a year of decline.The efforts of government agencies to make their services and information accessible on the Web have not always been a resounding success, but at least they're getting a little better, according to a survey research firm ForeSee Results plans to release today.
In its quarterly survey, the group found that federal government sites saw their scores improve on the University of Michigan's American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) for the first time in a year.
Nigeria: 'Benue Ready for E-Govt'
The e-governance designed to cut cost of administration in Benue state has taken off in some sections of the government machinery, Governor Gabriel Tor-Suswam said.The governor who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media and Public affairs; Mr. Cletus Akwaya said at the inception of his administration on May29, last year, he embarked on a project to cut cost of administration part of which was the introduction of e-governance which could not however take off as a result of lack of infrastructure and personnel.
South Africa: State IT agency will use OSS to cut costs
The State IT Agency (Sita), which provides IT services to the South African government, will use open source software as one of the strategies to reduce costs in providing IT services.Sita chief executive officer, Llewellyn Jones, opened the GovTech 2008 conference in Durban today saying reducing costs was a key objective for the agency.
Bangladesh: EC Secretariat, Teletalk sign agreement
The Election Commission Secretariat yesterday signed an agreement with mobile phone operator Teletalk Bangladesh Ltd to facilitate quick information for the people about the August 4 elections to four city corporations and nine municipalities.EC secretary M Humayun Kabir and Managing Director of Teletalk Bangladesh Ltd Mohammad Mujibur Rahman signed the agreement, on behalf of their respective sides, at the conference room of EC Secretariat.
