Colonel Saleh al-Kubaisi, Director of IT Information System Unit at the ministry, told some 150 company representatives that at present only 7% of the total visas were issued through the e-Government system. He said the users of the new facility could apply for entry visas and pay the fees on-line. The applicants can view the status of their application, in Arabic and English. The officials explained step by step, the procedure for applying for visas online.
After the application is accepted, it will show the fees, wherever applicable. The fees are paid through credit card or prepaid card.
The public can also use the service for the issue, renewal and cancellation of the resident permit. The users can also use the service for transferring the RP to a new passport, transfer of sponsorship, RP overstay permit, exit permit, and RP for newborns.
Abdullah Salim al-Ali , assistant to the director of the Passport and Immigration Department, said that the public could also use the e-Government service to renew driving licences and pay traffic violation fines.
Khalid al-Emadi, manager of e-Governments Q-Post unit, said that the corporation would provide e-Government services to the public at all its branches. The service would include the delivery of passports, health cards, and driving licences.
Mahamed al-Saie, the manager of a private company, said that his company had done more than 450 transactions online through the Qatar e-Government service, assigning only one employee for the purpose.
The Director of Public Security, Major General Saad bin Jasim al-Kholeifi and the Director of the Public Relations at the Interior Ministry Colonel Rashid al-Atiq were among the officials present at the seminar.
The e-Government will provide training for employees of companies that intend to use the service. Interested people can call the e-Government helpdesk at 4657802.
